Louden Smith
Outreach Resident
What do you do at Christ City Church?
I help lead our outreach in the city. My heart is that every person in Huntsville would hear the gospel and encounter the life-changing hope of Jesus.
How did Jesus change your life?
I grew up a Cultural Christian and became a chameleon—constantly changing depending on who I was around. I never understood who I was, why I existed, or what my purpose was. Then during my sophomore year of college, God opened the eyes of my heart to the same gospel I had heard my entire life. For the first time, I truly understood and appreciated the gospel—that salvation is not achieved through my performance, but received through the finished work of Jesus.
What do you love about Huntsville?
I love the balance it has. It’s growing and full of opportunity, but still has a strong sense of community and Southern hospitality. I love the mix of people from all different backgrounds and stages of life. I also love the natural beauty of the city. But more than anything, I love the potential Huntsville has. So many people are moving here and searching for belonging, and that makes it an incredible place to build relationships, share the gospel, and see lives changed by Jesus.
What’s something people would be surprised to learn about you?
I come from a family of nine, including my parents—and somehow the average height in our house is around 6’2”, including my sisters. For the record, I’m 6’7” (middle schoolers love that).
If you were to have your childhood dream job, what would your job be?
NBA hooper or a sponsored Redbull cliff diver.
Which fictional character would you be friends with in real life, and why?
Optimus Prime, I know that guys got some wisdom and a sweet ride!
Favorite way to spend a free Saturday?
Early morning hoop session or climbing, followed by coffee and time in the Bible at a local coffee shop. After that, some kind of adventure with my wife—a run, walk, hike, or just exploring somewhere new. And of course, Chipotle is somehow involved for lunch, dinner… or honestly both.
